A Fun Conversation With Spirit

August 13, 2026

Don’t you hate it when you lose your sense of humor? I do. It feels so compressed. One morning in early June I felt rather dragged down in this way, so I spent my Morning Musing time in a conversation with those who walk with me in the inner realms.

At the time, I generally write out these conversations as they occur—a bit like a dictation. Then I have them to lift or remind me later, or to share with you. So here’s this one, just as it occurred.

Me: In the silence I sit and open to you, beloved ones on the inner plane… engage with me dear ones.  I feel a little overwhelmed by my own life and concerns, from the wear of the life I attend to in the moment. Help orient me back with my lighter nature.

They: And so, greetings be unto you this day! And indeed, we bring lightness to your heart and mind and a lift for your emotions, for that is the need, yes?

Me: Yes, and it is feels so good to be here you with already! I feel your sparkle and the energy of the giggle, a very light-filled one.  It’s lifting me already… Oh my, I have been feeling compressed and overly sober and engaged in the swirling undercurrents between people in crisis. I suppose I could call that my Achilles heel… weird thinkings and unspoken undercurrents between people, phew. Something deep in me always feels at risk when strange human undercurrents are swirling—there’s something of the risk of the mob in it for me—even thought there’s obviously no burning stake to be cast upon, but still… for most of us this life has certainly brought us some undercurrents amongst people, ones that have scorched and made us cautious 🥵.

They: Then let us divert your attention, helping shift that by showing you your joy and reminding you of your sparkle.

Me: Yes please do… for funny as it seems I can’t imagine even a single delight in this moment.

They: Ah, your delights…

Me: yes my REAL delights.  Or my small daily ones, or my forever ones, whatever they are, please speak of my delights.

They: You delight in the feeling and connection with your soul of self, you delight in the trickle of a stream and tweeting of the birds, you delight in the movement of the wind in your hair and on your face and the ease of yourself in nature and in the beauty the eye beholds and in feeling deep peace of the heart.

And speaking to your current circumstances, you delight also in being generous, in aiding another as well… but these must always have balance with other delights, do you see?  So it is vital to add them now for they lift the fatigue.

Me: Ok so balance in laughter, in birdsong, moments of sun on my face…

They: Indeed. And what else is there that brings you delight?

Me: I also delight in learning of or remembering the mysteries, talking with a friend such as Jackie S (who has passed) or those such as you.  So here I am for this delight. (By now, you see I’ve already lifted enough to actually name a few.)

They: And let us point also to your love of the creator—that which is called God—how you delight in your relationship within that space.  And your delight and great love for Gaia, the many gifts and exchanges with her, the energy you delight in sharing with all the plants, animals and creatures upon her—the song you bring them—these bring you delight.

And you do love to laugh, to feel your body respond.  To have your heart touched.  And you do love so many small moments of each a day as well.

You are a sparkle of light, dear one.  If you could see your field as we do you would see your sparkle that is like the tinkle of children’s laughter in the distance along with the sound of delicate chimes. … and now your duties calls, but feel our laughter and hear us as you proceed, for we will keep the lift going.

Me: Yes, day calls but thank you so much, it has been just what I need to restore my humor, my sense of wonder, and to lift me from fears of the darker undercurrents, the swirling judgments and energies of the group.  I feel soOoo much better. Thank you!

They: as we like to say, it is our pleasure and honor.  Peace be unto you, darling one, and love always.

~*~*~*~*~

Just in this short exchange, I was lifted right out of the fatigue and compression of the moment and brought back into balance.  It wasn’t just the words shared, of course, they were the least of it.

Images and energy accompanied the exchange.  They literally “showed” me my joys, and the feelings came with them.  They showed me my sparkly field while also lifting me into the sparkle again.  It was fast, efficient, complete.  And it was a delight in itself!

I just love to talk (I always do this aloud) with my cohorts on the inner.  I thought you might enjoy eavesdropping on a conversation.  I wish I could hear one of yours, hehe.

Peace be unto you, darling one, and love always.

My Spiritual Work As Life Witness

August 6, 2026

As we’ve honored and reflected on Sherryl Lin’s life, some of you have asked what I did while with them… meaning my spiritual or energetic work.  Naturally I did the many physical things needed, and these amounted to many long hours each day. I was there to assist and relieve some of the tasks and stress that come at this stage for the family.

However, as those who asked have sensed, it was not the main part of my work there.  Since I was young my team has told me that I carry the field of what they referred to as the “witness”.  When small, I didn’t question that but as I grew older I did inquire and in each phase of maturation, my understanding of this aspect of my field has expanded as my growth allowed.

Many shaman, gurus, and psychics throughout my life have also spoken to me of this quality of “Witness” that I carry.  And also I’ve learned that in some belief systems—Jewish, Buddhist and the Essenes, for instance—they’ve had defined roles referred to as “witness”.

I’ve written about this over the years for my own clarification, often in dialogue with my guides and team.  Rather than try to convey all I’ve come to understand about this, I’ll share a summary I made more recently.  Cliff Notes, you might call it.

My reason for offering this is to plant the notion in your minds that, while I was born with this field aspect, it is also a way of living.  One you’ll recognize in your own lives.  It can be stepped into more fully by anyone wishing to entrain their own field with these qualities.

I’ve purposely left it in a rough form—part bullet points, part outline. I think this gives the sense of things without wordy distractions or too much definition. To best understand it however, you may have to set aside a prejudice, as I did, about the many religious connotations of witness and witnessing.  The true meaning of this as pure frequency has been lost, distorted or hidden in many cases.

Witness—The Cliff Notes, A Summary of Key points and phrases about Witness and witnessing.

  • Witness or witnessing is not something one does.  It is something one is. It is an energy frequency, a field frequency. Some are born with this energy in their field and it is a gift of their field.  They do not try to be or do this—their field activates and operates in this way. They can be asked to participate in that capacity by someone who recognizes this aspect of their field, or they can attend someone or something, aware that this is what is being called forth.  But they cannot manipulate the use and outcome of this energy.
  • It is also a way of life. And attributes and aspects of this can be “practiced” as a way that, over lifetimes they become integrated in one’s field, leading to carrying the Witness energy field.
  •  A witness is one who holds presence without interference.  While affirming the reality and sacredness of what is occurring.

* It is to stand in awareness of a moment so fully that it is seen, held, and therefore made more real in the field of consciousness.

* A witness supports a healthy human reality, knowing that nothing is simply there—it is continually and always brought into being through awareness, relationship, and divine attention. So to witness is, in a small but meaningful way, to participate in creation.

* To be witnessed is not to be fixed, helped, or even comforted in the usual sense.

It is:

  • To be seen as real, no matter how imperfect or damaged one may be
  • To have one’s experience held without being corrected or denied
  • To be accompanied by awareness that says, silently:
“You are here. This is real. I am with you in it.”

* Fully present witnessing naturally becomes a profound act of compassion and spiritual service—sometimes even more essential than other actions.

* It is an inner faculty:

  • The part of consciousness that can observe without becoming entangled
  • The awareness that remains even as thoughts, emotions, or identities change

* It goes beyond inner detachment. It includes relational witnessing:

It doesn’t mean stepping back from life, but standing present within it, without collapsing into reaction.

* A witness is not:

  • passive
  • detached in a cold way
  • or merely observing

* It is someone who:

  • confers dignity through presence
  • stabilizes reality through attention
  • and at times, simply refuses to look away in discomfort or fear
  • A simple way to feel it—rather than merely define it is this:
  • A witness is not asking: How do I fix this? What should I say?

A witness is resting in: I am here. I am aware. I allow this to be real. I allow this to become what is most truly intended.

This way of being is key to the transformative nature of the Witness energy.  Regarding outcome, the energy of witness always midwifes the intent of the Soul.

* “The one who “sees” all of it.”That is almost a pure definition of the Witness—before culture, before theology, before interpretation. It doesn’t mean seeing it all with the journalistic, defining or analyzing mind.  It is not XRay vision into the business of others. It means to “see” or be aware but as an expanded comprehension beyond words.

* And importantly, in witnessing you don’t draw yourself outside the scene in rejection of it.
You draw yourself in relationship to it, holding the whole.

* You become an active field of witnessing presence. Not passive observation. Not detached awareness. But a stabilizing, clarifying presence in which reality becomes more visible to itself.

In the deeper sense a true witness:

  • Sees without distortion (or with less distortion than most)
  • Allows what is to be what it is
  • Does not collapse into the experience, but also does not withdraw from it
  • Holds a field in which truth becomes more apparent
  • And thus allows the best or highest to happen for all involved.

The witness does not change things by doing.
The witness changes things by how reality is held in their presence. Then the highest intent of Soul can override what is there, ease what is there, alter what is there.  Change occurs from this place and what occurs does so with Grace.

There are three related but different things that are often confused:

  1. The Observer
    • Watches
    • Can be detached
    • May not affect what is happening
  1. The Empath
    • Feels with
    • Often enters the experience
    • Can become entangled
  1. The Witness (as I am describing it)
    • Sees clearly without merging
    • Remains present without withdrawing
    • Stabilizes the field simply by the energetic gift of Presence

I share this today as an invitation from Spirit, an indication that you are ready to absorb many of these qualities of Light and ways of being and to share them from your field as part of your own Light Work, your own gifts to the world. May this be so for you as you wish, dear one.

Much love,
Mayet Leilani

PS: I wanted to offer the link a last time for any who wish to help Sherryl Lin’s husband and daughter. As usual in such circumstances, they incurred many expenses not covered by insurance.  So I know any assistance would be gratefully received if you want to make a financial gift to them.  Here is their GoFundMe link. Or, you can email me if you’d like to know how to donate directly to them by check or transfer.

Sherryl Lin’s Last Words

July 28, 2026

As my fourth writing honoring Sherryl Lin Taylor’s life and passage, I want to share her last words to me. They were unusual in a number of ways. And I feel they are meaningful to us all, worth pondering, and very much the sort of thing she’d enjoy having shared as wisdom from her.

She had come to me that morning quite clearly when I woke and asked me to visit her that day, saying she had a question for me. As it happened, Brian and another person decided to join as well.

The three of us were around her bedside; Brian and his friend were visiting, Brian sharing stories of his times with Sherryl Lin. After listening to them for a while, I began to feel Sherryl Lin reminding me she had a question.

Let me clarify that Sherryl Lin had become quiet and non-responsive in the last few days, her breath having grown more labored as well. So my last communication with her was entirely telepathic, non-verbal, but absolutely clear.

Receiving the feeling of inquiry from her, I asked telepathically, “You mentioned having a question for me?”

I felt her “Yes,” then immediately understood her question as: “Is breath also something you have to let go of?”

Her question referred to numerous conversations we’d had in the previous months as she moved closer to passing. She often asked me how I’d observed people in their final moments of letting go of the body. She realized the body itself had a strong reflex to stay alive and wondered if I’d observed people have difficulty with that at the end.

I had seen this many times, observing that it was not as automatic as we might sometimes suspect. Letting go of the body wasn’t always easy. So on this occasion her question to me was whether breath is also something you have to let go of. Her communication had a feeling of uncertainty about whether stopping breathing was okay.

Sitting there, I realized that, in fact, there could be an uncertainty about that. It seems obvious in a way, but when it comes to actually stopping breathing, I realized that in the moment it likely wouldn’t feel that obvious.

So I told her, “Yes, it’s necessary to let go of breath too.”

I wondered if she would do that right then because I had the sense that she was “practicing” it, approaching it, knowing yes, it was also something else to release. I could feel her approach her last breath and back away a few times.

Then I suddenly realized that what she was practicing was similar to holding her breath. I communicated to her that holding her breath was not what was needed. I felt her puzzlement.

“Rather than holding your breath,” I felt inspired to say, “you exhale as usual, letting all the air go. Then—realizing you no longer need breath because your full essence of self never dies—you simply don’t take another inhale.”

I felt a flash of insight pass between us, an AHA on her part, as she felt what was absolutely true: she didn’t need breath anymore! It was a revelation for both of us, at a depth I find words inadequate for. Though I suspect you feel it too.

It’s a deep, clear memory in us, this lack of need for earthly air. It’s an instinct as certain as the body’s natural instinct is to breathe. We instinctively breathe, but we also remember how not to breathe.

She got it. And again I wondered if she was going to pass then, with the three of us with her. I felt her smile and say, “Now that I understand how, I’ll just stay here… I want to listen to my sweetheart’s voice for a while.”

Brian talked on, remembering with his friend, as his sweetheart let the timbre and frequency of his voice wash over her, sound being the last of the senses to leave us when we go.

At length the friend left, and soon after Brian and I drove the hour back to our area together. We learned that Sherryl Lin passed before we were home.

Her beautiful last words to me—a question—seemed a wonderful gift.

And her beautiful last words for him—that she wanted, just a little longer, to listen to the sound of her sweetheart’s voice—were deeply touching to us both.

It is always a rare time, this walk with someone through their final passage in life. Many of you know this from your own experiences. Within it is the same mix of difficulty and awe, the same hush and feeling of the sacred that accompany a newborn’s birth into this world. It is a similar honor to be with someone in their departure out of it. The feeling of it lingers and deepens our awareness of our light and our own eternal natures.

Sharing that light and love with you,
Mayet Leilani
