  • The # 5

  • Change or Transmutation?

We’ve been ruminating a little about changes as I share some of what’s going on with me.  I’ll return soon to more about my work changes but I should add that I have an overall feeling of change, that there seems to be interesting inner transformations going on with me, as well as outer.  It’s going on at a group level for many of us, wouldn’t you say?

The number of change is 5 and if I had a favorite number (why choose?) I think it would be five. When I’ve said that to others, new age people have often groaned, “Change? Ugh!”  So it’s somewhat dreaded by many, apparently.

I guess because I’m more of a glass-half-full type of person, I assume change might be a positive thing.  And having an artistic nature, I trust shift and chaos and not-knowing – all parts of change – as part of a creative process.  I have a degree of comfort and even skill with it, I suppose.

That doesn’t mean it’s comfortable when it’s upon me, or that I always love it or feel no fear, not at all.  It feels how it feels depending on what’s happening.  But I do have a certain facility with the process.  Perhaps confidence in that develops over the course of one’s life, or so it seems to me.

It’s important to develop that skill, after all change is one of the few real constants in life.  If we don’t like the weather, it will change.  If it’s a difficult time, personally-speaking, it will change.  I guess the rub comes – the fear arises –  in knowing that if we like the weather, or our current life circumstance, life has taught us that these too might change.

Accepting that life = change doesn’t come easily to us, does it?  Spiritual resilience has a great deal to do with one’s ability to handle change or the need for change.  Spiritual maturity includes a certain acceptance of, and ability with, change.

I’ve been making a little book of change.  It’s an art book I’m crafting, not a book I’m writing for publication.  I thought today I’d share a simple formula I’m using in it.  It’s one Spirit gave me some years ago regarding change and the number 5.

5 = Transition
55 = Transformation
555 = Transmutation

Transition, a great word for change.  More accurate.

Transition, transformation and transmutation are three very important words to the spiritual sojourner.  Thinking of change in this way is very interesting to me.  Something fun for us to ponder together.

I’m in transition in my life… not sure what it all means.  I don’t feel everything about it can be named or even understood.  But it’s nice to talk about it and share what I can, and I feel lucky to be able to do that here with you.

Love, dear one, in these amazing times of transition,  transformation and transmutation.  Which do you think you’re going through?  (Hint: you can check all three boxes.)
