There are many of you who are in difficult times; grappling with loss, grief, trauma, illness and other serious challenges.  The soldier archetype that we discussed last week may be all you have to call on, and I know your fatigue is great.  May a breadth of resources well up to sustain you and bring you to a calmer and safer shore; that is my prayer.

To others of us, the silver lining is now more obvious.  Though there are strange variations in mood and energy, there are also many moments when life seems luminous and lit from within.  A new energy is coming up in us and we feel pressed to apply it. (more…)

Happy New Year!

2014 was a lot rougher than many people expected, for that matter, so was 2013. One might ask, “Will 2015 be the same and can I make it through another year of this?”

I’m hearing from many people who’ve run out of steam. Best case scenario, it feels like things are just kind of flat. Worst case, it feels like there’s little hope. Many people tell me they often feel, “What’s the use?” Even those who feel hopeful and engaged in their lives confess to perplexing periods when it suddenly feels oddly hopeless and useless. (more…)

You live in a two-room house. One room is your living area, the other is storage space. The living room has huge windows and great views. The storage room has no window and no electricity.
