A Whole New Perspective on Discipline

July 10, 2025

Article highlights:

  • Have trouble disciplining yourself?
  • A new look at an old chestnut

How were you disciplined as a child?  What did school teach you about discipline or your church?  Discipline.  After years — or lifetimes for most of us — of harsh, forced ideas about discipline as children, in monasteries and ashrams, it’s no wonder a lot of us feel wary about it, or even burned out.  Perhaps its time to rethink it? Well, I came across the perfect new perspective to do that!

An author and writer I follow, MasonCurrey@substack.com has a monthly column about creativity I enjoy.  In a recently blog about the creative habits of composer John Cage he cites a quote from the 2012 Cage biography by David Revill.

Mason focuses on Cage’s perspective regarding discipline, sharing that it “blew his mind” to think of discipline in this way.  I have to say that I was also impacted strongly by Cage’s approach to self-discipline.  My thought was, “This is the outlook on disciple that every modern spiritual seeker should adopt for their beliefs and practices!”

Naturally, then, I thought of you.  I think you’ll love it as much as I (and Mason) did. To share it, let me first drop in the paragraph Mason shared by the Cage biographer and let you discover it as I did.

Revill writes: “Cage points out that discipline comes from the same root as “disciple” — one gives oneself up, administers one’s life from the core of one’s being so it may follow a path. “Discipline is giving yourself rather than expecting things to give themselves to you,” in the formulation of Cage.

“Disciplines are important as disciplines. The specific nature of the discipline is not as important as the discipline itself.” He proposes, “the question is not what should I do or how to do it but how one achieves the state of being disciplined — learning true discipline is to give oneself up.”

Then Mason Currey continues,

“OK, this kind of blew my mind. Discipline is not a virtue that some people possess and others lack, Cage says, nor is it a muscle to be exercised and strengthened over time. Rather, it is giving yourself over to something. It is not about exerting self-control; it’s about surrendering control.”

Whoa!  Right?  Many of us have struggled with, or shied away, or rebelled against the idea of spiritual discipline.  Certainly that includes me — too many lifetimes in ashrams and monasteries perhaps.  Forcing and regimenting feels more exhausting than freeing.

But giving oneself to one’s practice or commitment or to one’s spiritual path in general — well that feels like a fabulous fit to me!  What a perfect upgrade of discipline for the spiritual journeyer of any kind, right?

I also love the sentence saying , “one gives oneself up, administers one’s life from the core of one’s being so it may follow a path.”  Think of that… living or administering your life from the core of your being to allows your life to unfold from your core!  Doesn’t that just make soOoo much sense?  It does to me.

You can even apply that to daily living… to you work, to changing your diet or a habit, to exercising, or to any aspect of your day. As a “giving” not a forcing, or a “have to.”  Redefining discipline in this way is a wonderful AHA for me, how about you?

With love,

Heart of Love Message: You Are the Freedom Singers

July 3, 2025

Article highlights:

  • The frequency of freedom
  • The song of interdependence

Dear Freedom Singer,

Tomorrow, on the 4th, as the U.S celebrates a date associated with its formation, I was given a Heart of Love Message about this.  I found it interesting and think you might too.

Enjoy,
Mayet

A Message From the Heart of Love
You Are the Freedom Singer

The eyes of the world are upon the nation of the United States.   It is a nation founded on the principles independence for the individual and the freedom for all.  This was at that time such a radical idea that it caused a shock wave felt around the world that reverberates to this day.  And so — in one way — it fulfilled its destiny simply in its formation by seeding a new potential for humanity that has taken root in countless ways.

The conception of these United States within the Americas was an ideal that opened a world of new thought and potential.  It broke with many norms, helped create important improvements everywhere.  Overtime — again fulfilling part of its destiny — it became a so-called “melting pot” of  diversity.  One seldom seen elsewhere on such scale.

All this opened many areas of human living for debate.  Which naturally resulted in descension and division.  And that is what comes to a head here now.  For — as with most ideals — the “American Dream” naturally achieved some but failed to achieve other of it’s highest aims.  For instance, it has provided independence and freedom unevenly and imperfectly and its diversity is unresolved as well.

Thus, as with all things human, the spiral of balance turns another revolution bringing humanity once again to the key impulses of that dream.  As with all spirals, the circling back to a previous point is never exactly to the same place, for it is a spiral not a circle.  Which means the initial  issues and opportunities are now different in important ways.

Although it is not yet fully apparent, this is already a new world in time.  This is no usual turn of the spiral.  It is an unusually elevated one.  So the question regarding freedom for all is still there and the opportunity for independence is as well.  But on this elevated round  the focus of independence now must accommodate interdependence, not just independence.

The greater good must now be equally considered along with the individual’s freedom and rights.  This is part of what is new, among other things.  And so, the individual is asked to see themselves as more capable of considering the good of humanity as a whole, not solely their own beliefs.  This dream of freedom was then, and is now, a dream you were instrumental in conceiving.  You have been trained and prepared for this.

How to get along given your individual freedom and diversity of culture and belief — that is now your urgent puzzle.  But we would say that from our  perspective it cannot be met by simply choosing sides in the ground zero of your daily lives.  Nor will it be lived out or decided in one nation only.   Ready or not, you are a world community now and the actions of any one country impacts all others profoundly.  This will come into play.

On this elevated round of the spiral, the Soul attributes such as love, harmony, unity, interdependence must be daily grappled with.  You have tasked yourselves in years past to value these attributes.  And in doing this you have helped Gaia in changing the grid of life to support them.  Now you are called to integrate them.

Happily, people such as yourselves share an important common preference which  serves to unite you.  You do indeed each prefer that your own dreams, wishes and prayers serve the highest good.

Now begin to equally ask that your beliefs, thoughts and actions also serve the highest intent for all life and for humanity’s positive evolution in the light-filled opportunities of these times.  Let this be your strongest intent. In this way, you personal preferences can be held without impeding the greater growth of all.

We would say to you, you have been the freedom fighters, now you are called to be the freedom singers.  And ringers.  You are asked to inhabit the frequency of the fuller freedom and interdependence of humanity.  And you are invited to let that freedom frequency ring forth from your being, letting the song of freedom well up from the depths of the soul that you are.

We join you in this and assure you it is a resounding song that sounds now for a new humanity.  This is what we would suggest you give yourself to most fully in this time of descension.  You are part of a great chorus that begins to ring forth.

Fear not, trusting strongly and steadfastly that you are part of a joyous new song sparking the blooming of the New Eden growing within you.

Are You Ready for Telepathy? The Path of Transparency

June 26, 2025

Article highlights:

  • What IS telepathy?
  • Immediacy of Self
  • There is a Gap

Last week while reflecting with you on our first spiritual teachers, I shared a little about my first teacher, a Channel called Zarathushtra.   During the week since, I thought of another teaching from that time that has remained with me since then.  It seems a good share for today.

One day in 1990, Jacque, the Channel, was offering a small event in San Diego where I lived.  An audience member asked Zarathushtra, “How can I become more telepathic?”  As answer to this question about telepathy, Zarathushtra asked the small group, “By a show of hands, how many of you feel ready for your every thought to be known by others?”

Naturally that question sent ripples of aha through the group as we tumbled into the realization of what telepathy was.  This was reinforced when Zarathushtra added,  “Telepathy includes the ability to live in the truth of who you are at any given moment.  Being telepathic means living in that transparency.”

He explained that telepathy begins to develop naturally after one chooses to embrace the path of Truth as a spiritual traveler.  That is why, he said, it is often called the Transparent Path of Truth.  Transparency, he said, gives one an immediacy of Self and added that having such immediacy of Self was the real key to manifestation in the physical world.  Immediacy of Self equates to a powerful sense of Presence and that presence is key to manifesting.

These few thoughts seemed to me an amazing teaching about telepathy, transparency, truth, presence and manifesting.  I raised my hand to reflect that it seemed that choosing to strive toward a more telepathic interface would certainly help us build greater accountability into our words, thots and actions.

I asked, “If one were to commit to a more telepathic or transparent life, would there be a grace period… a corrective pause… between what one thinks and what one manifests?”

My thinking was that if the manifestation came immediately after a thought, I’d too often be in trouble.  BUT if there was time to notice a thought and choose better, then it might be doable.

“In other words,” I expressed, “if one mis-thought or mis-spoke would there be a moment of grace to catch oneself in the thought and correct it?”  I said if that was the case, I felt I could make such a decision.  By this I didn’t mean committing to live perfectly transparently — that was clearly beyond me — but committing to the path of transparency seemed doable.  In fact, it seemed something very worth moving toward for my personal growth.

He allowed that, in fact, that is how things are.  “There is a Grace period, indeed.  On this planet,” he pointed out, “there is already what could be called the Gap.  It is the period of time that elapses between experiencing your thoughts and emotions, and the manifestation of them physically.  This is already built in on earth to prevent you each from being constantly overcome by the unfortunate consequences of how you have been taught to think and feel and act.”

“So, yes,” he affirmed, “there is the pause and yes, it would indeed be a beneficial choice to commit to the transparent path of truth as one’s life training, with telepathy as one of the rewards along the way.  But, he added, it would also require one to commit to kindness and compassion and patience toward oneself.  Commitment to lovingly accepting who you are requires the equal willingness to be self-compassionate.

I made that commitment and have been learning profound lessons about the power of my thoughts and words since then.  It’s still a meaningful path for me and even though I often fall short along the way, I love being on it.

The Path of Transparency and Truth is a stellar teacher.  And of note is the fact that it took me a while to realize that transparency didn’t mean divulging things about myself or others, it meant knowing myself.

Becoming increasingly honest with myself and comfortable with who I am and what I’m up to — understanding what I’m thinking and wanting, what my fears and underlying agendas are, moving away from self-judgment…   These are the priceless treasures I’ve found along the way.  And incidentally, learning more about what telepathy really is has been part of that too.

What a beautiful, full-circle teaching Zarathushtra gave on that day!  Telepathy = transparency, and transparency + patient self-compassion = Self-knowledge, and realization which = Truth = Presence and Manifestation!

It has been something wonderful to muse on all these years, including with you today.  😊 💜

Love, as usual,
Mayet
